Norfolk County Reading Specialist

We travel to Sudbury, Wayland, Maynard, Acton, Concord. Our Norfolk County Reading Specialist, Carly, specializes in early childhood reading tutoring and the Orton-Gillingham approach.
A child’s comprehension abilities can develop even before becoming an independent reader. Comprehension allows a child to anticipate outcomes, assess characters, deduce, and link text to real-world events. It is the ultimate objective of literacy education.
Students who have difficulty comprehending text will have problems understanding information. Visualizing and verbalizing help students create mental images of the text they are reading, much like making a movie out of a text. This process is also known as concept imagery.
We specialize in helping students with language processing difficulties, students with reading comprehension issues, students with dyslexia, and students with auditory processing issues.
We make sure that the students are involved in what we are doing so that we can maximize effectiveness and prevent them from becoming frustrated. We also consider their interests, strengths, and learning styles to ensure that we are successful. After all, we want to avoid putting a square peg in a round hole.
