M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD, SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Jill has been working with students with learning differences for over 20 years. She is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of NY who holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as her Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certificate from the New York Department of Education. She graduated with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child Development from the University of Rhode Island in 1998 and then continued her education at The University of Southern Connecticut where she earned her M.S. in Communication Disorders with a concentration in Speech-Language Pathology in 2002. She has also been training in multiple reading programs such as Wilson reading, Linda Mood Bell, and Lively Letters as well as basic prompt training for articulation.

Throughout her education she was employed in many settings with a wide range of students including substitute teaching, tutoring elementary school subjects to high school SAT’s, a counselor at a camp for children with autism, as well as a speech assistant in the Stamford Public Schools before they hired her full time out of graduate school. Once she completed her education, she has worked in a variety of settings from home care, public and private regular education, and special education preschools to middle schools, adult group homes, and remote learning. She is dedicated to her clients and builds lasting relationships with many of the families she has worked with, a great number who continue to keep her posted on their success to this day, long after they stopped needing her assistance. Her focus over the last 10 years has been with students from ages 3 to 15 in a regular education classroom who struggle with expressive and receptive language skills as well as phonological awareness and reading difficulties, from decoding to comprehension. Throughout her career, she has also worked with clients who have difficulty with articulation and phonological processes as well as verbal and non-verbal children with autism. In addition to language, Jill has a passion for math, using her language skills to help tackle word problems and sequencing strategies to assist in computation. Jill believes in using a blend of different modalities to help support her clients depending on what she finds they can benefit from when they are struggling. Her overall philosophy is to work as a team with her clients and family to discover a way to help her clients communicate and feel successful by giving them as many tools as possible. She then focuses on the ones that work best for them, as she understands we are all unique and there is not a one size fits all solution to learning differences.

Nicholas is a New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist and holds his Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. He is also certified as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Nicholas received his Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Adelphi University. During his 9-year professional career, Nicholas has worked in multiple settings including public schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, daycares, clinical settings, and private homes. Currently, Nicholas is employed at a special needs high school in Queens, New York as a Speech-Teacher. Nicholas has extensive experience working with children ages birth to 21, with and without learning differences. Some learning differences he has experience working with include expressive and receptive language, early intervention, literacy, functional life skills, articulation, fluency, social interaction skills, feeding skills, reading comprehension, Autism, ADHD, Emotionally Disturbed, Intellectual Disabilities, and cognition. Nicholas has also acquired extensive knowledge in augmentative communication systems (AAC) and has experience programing ProLoQuo2Go, Lamp, Touch Chat, Toby Dynavox, and Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) for non-verbal children.

During his time working in a high school setting, Nicholas has worked towards integrating functional life skill activities with speech goals. This integration makes goals more relatable and enjoyable to accomplish. Functional life skill activities include cooking, understanding nutritional facts, recycling, going on interviews, and filling out job applications to name a few. While working with children ages birth to middle school, Nicholas has developed activities that are engaging and fun, allowing the child to learn while keeping them motivated. Early intervention activities focus on play-based skills while toddlers to pre-middle school children focus more on pairing reading activities with functional games.
