Most Common Challenges Adults When It Comes to Speech Therapy
Finding a speech therapist in New York City (NYC) can be a challenge for adults, especially those with limited access to specialized speech therapists, difficulty finding an affordable speech therapist, and limited options for insurance coverage for speech therapy.
When an adult does find a speech therapist that meets their needs, there are additional challenges to consider. Many speech therapists in NYC have long wait lists, making it difficult to schedule appointments.
Additionally, many adults in NYC are immigrants and may struggle to find a speech therapist who speaks the same language as them. This can be a major hindrance to receiving the speech therapy they need. It is important for adults in NYC to research their options and find a speech therapist who meets their needs. Many speech therapists offer online services, which can make scheduling appointments easier.

My sessions with Karen have been extremely helpful. My speech has improved tremendously. In fact, I just finished 2 hours of conducting interviews with a consulting client via MS Teams and I have an upcoming conference call. Both my neurologist and neurosurgeon remarked about how good my speech is. Much of the day it is perfect, although I still have some rough spots when I get tired or speak too quickly. One of my granddaughters is a speech pathology student at Ithaca College. She sat in on 2 sessions while she was home for winter break, and she was very impressed with Karen.
I recently worked with Brooklyn Letters to find a speech therapist and it was an overall positive experience. BL was very helpful in getting an appropriate placement who schedule and expertise matched our family’s needs. It was great working with the therapist and we saw a great deal of improvement in a short amount of time and learned a great deal about how to support with continued progress outside of sessions.
