SPEECH LANGUAGE THERAPISTS

Speech-language pathologists (or speech and language therapists, speech therapists, or simply, SLPs) prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, social communication, voice, and swallowing disorders. Working with individuals of all ages—rom babies to adults—SLPs conduct therapy sessions on a one-on-one basis and provide information for families, support groups, and the general public.

In many cases, SLPs work with other healthcare professionals to provide referrals and assessments. Speech-language pathologists treat a wide range of communication delays and disorders. These include:

  • Speech Disorders – These can occur when an individual has difficulty producing speech sounds and putting them together to form intelligible words. Speech disorders include articulation or phonological disorders, apraxia of speech, and dysarthria.
  • ??? – Difficulties in understanding what was heard or read (receptive language) or using words to share thoughts and feelings (expressive language) may point to a language disorder. This can manifest in either spoken or written expression and may involve form (phonology, morphology, and syntax), content (semantics), and use (pragmatics) of language.
  • Voice or Resonance – Voice or resonance disorders refer to problems in how one’s voice sounds. One may sound hoarse, lose voice easily, talk through the nose or too loudly, or be unable to make sounds.
  • Social Communication – This refers to the social use of verbal and nonverbal communication. This includes how one communicates socially, how well one follows conversation rules and story-telling (aspect of expressive language called narratives), tells jokes, and how one speaks with different people in varied situations.
  • Cognitive-Communication – Someone with a cognitive-communication disorder may exhibit problems with organization, memory, attention, problem-solving, and other thinking skills. This can be a result of traumatic brain injury, a stroke, dementia, and may also be congenital.
  • Swallowing Disorders – Also known as dysphagia, swallowing disorders refer to difficulties in chewing, sucking, and swallowing food and liquid as a result of illness, surgery, stroke, or injury.
  • Literacy – Individuals with speech and language disorders may also experience difficulties with pre-literacy and literacy skills (phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, reading comprehension, and writing).

Aside from the disorders mentioned above, SLPs may also:

  • Provide aural rehabilitation for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Work with individuals with severe expressive or comprehension disorders (such as autism spectrum disorder and progressive neurological disorders) and provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
  • Help individuals enhance their communication skills (such as modifying one’s accent) to express themselves more effectively.

Cathy received her masters from the University of Portland and is a New York licensed speech-language pathologist who has worked with babies to adolescents for nearly 25 years. She has worked in all types of environments from early intervention, preschools and elementary schools to private practice. She is excited about helping young children to adolescents achieve their full learning potential. She is experienced in working with a variety of speech and language disorders and delays including: late talkers, articulation/enunciation problems including apraxia and oral motor difficulties, language processing issues, reading and writing remediation, stuttering, autism spectrum, feeding delay, hearing impairment, and augmentative communication. She understands how these delays treated early on in development can later help develop social and academic competence. For school age children, Cathy incorporates each student's curriculum into the language therapy session, so they can improve their vocabulary and grammatical development, listening and reading comprehension, expressive writing skills, organizational skills and more!

Andrea is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years of experience. She holds a B.A. in Religion from Oberlin College and an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology, begun at the University of Pittsburgh, and completed at Queens College-QUNY following a family move to NYC.

Andrea’s foray into early language began as a volunteer with toddlers on a kibbutz in Israel. Back in the United States, she began her professional career as a preschool teacher and was motivated by her love of child development to pursue coursework in early childhood education at Carlow College and then to begin her M.A. in speech/language pathology at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research experience there led to a life-long commitment to evidence-based practice. Once in the NYC public schools, it was a smooth slide from language development to reading development. Andrea has studied the Orton Gillingham approach through courses completed with the Reading Reform Foundation, Wilson, and The Spalding Method.

Although a school-based therapist, Andrea loves being with children at home where they are most comfortable and where she can see and use what they are most interested in. She embraces children wholly and takes great delight in them!

As a specialist, she is attuned to points of struggle and challenge and then finding ways to build from strength to strength. She relies on parents and teachers for information about their concerns, their observations, and situational demands.

Amy is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and a certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) with a bilingual (English/Spanish) extension. Amy completed an MA in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Maryland, College Park and a BA in Psychology at Wesleyan University. Amy has over 12 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist.

She has worked in a variety of settings: Early Intervention, schools, and private practice. Amy creates a fun and motivating learning environment, and her passion is helping those individuals who stutter: aside from dysfluent speech, there is an emotional piece, whether you are a parent of a child who stutters or you are the individual who stutters and need professional support. When working with Amy, her goals include helping clients improve their confidence and communication skills. Amy is also very passionate about working with school-aged students who are struggling with language-based learning issues, e.g. difficulties with reading, writing, and expressive and receptive language skills. Additionally, she has worked with many students with literacy challenges to improve their phonological awareness, decoding and/or reading comprehension skills using a phonics-based and multi-sensory approach to reading instruction.

She is also experienced working with students with special education needs and helping students in need of help with their articulation or phonological delays: she takes advantage of students’ strengths and interests, while creating goals/strategies to help the students she works with. Dr. Tempii is a retired Associate Professor whose most recent appointment was with LIU Brooklyn for the past 10 years. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), her New York State Speech-Language Pathology license and is certified as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH). She received her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northeastern University, her M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Hampton University and her PhD in Communication Disorders from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Tempii completed postdoctoral research at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Tempii has held positions at University of South Florida and Tennessee State University. As an Associate Professor, her many responsibilities included teaching, clinical work and research. In addition to this, she has taught pediatric diagnostic and language courses while at Long Island University. During the time at LIU-Brooklyn, Dr. Tempii led three summer trips to the Dominican Republic with students, providing clinical services to students with disabilities since children in the Dominican Republic typically do not receive speech and language therapy.

Dr. Tempii has worked clinically in a variety of settings including home-based, preschool, elementary school and private practice clinics for the last 30 years. Dr. Tempii has enjoyed working with a variety of children presenting with language, articulation, and fluency ranging in age from birth through adolescents. Dr. Tempii s clinical and research expertise is with children who are language disordered.

Lindsey is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). He holds his certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Lindsey completed his Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Louisiana. Lindsey s experience includes working for six years in the NYC Early Intervention Program for children ages birth-3, as well as CPSE (3-5-year-olds), and for the Department of Education in a K-8 setting. Lindsey creates customized treatment plans and delivers services to babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children with expressive and receptive language delays/disorders, autism spectrum disorder, feeding delays in young children, reading comprehension difficulties, expressive writing support, with speech production (phonology and articulation), and stuttering (fluency). Lindsey believes in a family-centered approach, with an emphasis on parent training and family involvement to promote optimized improvement by including carryover activities in daily routines. Families enjoy his enthusiasm, creativity, and active approach to therapy. Lindsey is passionate about helping children, and he takes advantage of each child's unique strengths and interests to make learning fun and successful. With his adult clients, Lindsey has worked with stuttering, aphasia, and voice disorders with a focus on creating awareness and sustainable strategies to improve outcomes at any age.

Theo takes advantage of the child's interests to tailor a unique approach for each child he works with. He believes in a collaborative approach, and works closely with families to maximize carryover opportunities during daily routines and interactions; learning does not stop when the session ends. Theo uses a play-based therapy approach and when appropriate, incorporates his decades of musical training to create a fun and positive atmosphere for the client to learn and grow.

Christie is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) with a bilingual (English/Spanish) extension. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Christie completed her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Teachers College, Columbia University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Linguistics and a Masters of Arts in Spanish Language and Translation from New York University. Christie worked for the New York City Department of Education with a diverse population of high school aged students for 6.5 years before transitioning to middle and elementary aged students this year. In addition, she has worked with Early Intervention aged children and school-aged children of all ages. Christie has experience evaluating and providing speech language therapy for monolingual English and bilingual Spanish-speaking children with a variety of speech and language disorders, including expressive and receptive language, reading comprehension, written expression, pragmatic language, stuttering, articulation and phonology, and executive functioning. Christie is particularly interested in the role of language in literacy development. She is experienced in working with students who have difficulty reading, focusing on each child's specific needs, including vocabulary development, word recognition, decoding, and reading comprehension. Christie is passionate about helping school-aged students who are struggling with language-based learning differences (e.g. reading, writing, and expressive and receptive language skills) be successful in school. She strives to incorporate the student's classroom curriculum and personal interests into therapy using evidence-based practices in order to increase carryover into the classroom setting. Christie also believes in the importance of teaching students to develop self-advocacy skills and collaborating with families and teachers. In addition, Christie completed a 200-hour wellness and yoga teacher training program this past summer, certifying Christie as a yoga teacher and Wellness Champion. She also received training in the Social Emotional Learning and Facilitation (SEL*F) curriculum through this program, which she plans on incorporating into her sessions to support the social and emotional development of her students.

Brittney is a speech-language pathologist with a master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received specialized training in the areas of language-based learning disabilities, bilingual language development (Spanish-English), and fluency (stuttering).Following graduation, Brittney moved back to New York and has been working for the New York City Department of Education with students from pre-K to high school.

Brittney specializes in working with school-aged students with speech and language and executive functioning disorders and differences. She is passionate about designing and implementing research-based lessons that help students build the underlying organizational and language skills necessary to become proficient readers and writers. Brittney targets skills at any and all levels of language in which students need support, whether it’s learning the academic vocabulary associated with a specific form of writing, or learning how to comprehend complex sentences in a novel.

Brittney works with students to help them identify their unique writing behaviors and adjust their process to include the tools and technology that will make writing a fun and engaging learning activity. For example, many students with SLD and ADD benefit from orally rehearsing their sentences prior to writing them down, and learning new spelling patterns within the context of their reading and writing classwork.

Brittney partnered with a SLP researcher to demonstrate the effectiveness of written language intervention she designed and implemented at her school. Results revealed that the writing intervention helped students with SLD and ADD improve their writing productivity and spelling accuracy. Brittney regularly provides workshops for administrators, supervisors, parents, teachers and speech therapists regarding speech and language disorders, written language intervention, and creating an inclusive environment for students with communication disorders and differences.

Alina is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Alina completed her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Brooklyn College. She received her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Brooklyn College. Alina is fluent in Russian and conversational in Spanish.

Since 2012, Alina has worked in private, public, & charter schools as well as in private practice. While in private practice, Alina provided evaluations and treatment for pediatrics with speech delays and adults with post-stroke, aphasia, Parkinsons Disease, and dementia. Alina is currently a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist in a middle school within the NYC Department of Education. Here, she works with middle school students Grades 6-8 who demonstrate difficulties with receptive and expressive language skills, pragmatic social skills, executive functioning, organization and time management, reading comprehension, oral and written verbal expression. Alina’s therapy focuses on language-based learning difficulties including listening/reading comprehension, inferential/critical thinking, receptive/expressive vocabulary development, narrative development, phonological awareness, word recognition skills, decoding, grammar, oral and written sentence structure (syntax), and organizing the students ideas/thoughts to target coherent oral and written expression. A large part of Alina’s sessions also focuses on articulation, where she frequently targets remediation of K, G, L, R, and S phonemes as they tend to be difficult for youngsters aged 4-7. Alina believes in helping students maximize their academic success by working through their strengths to remediate their weaknesses.

Alina prides herself on providing unique and specialized services tailored to fit the needs of each client and family. She believes that by providing a stimulating environment that is mindful of each client’s specific interests, she can maximize learning potential and communicative success.

In addition, Alina is certified by the Institute of Language & Phonology in the COMPTON P-ESL Program, which is a research-based and result-driven approach to accent modification training. Alina has worked with a number of adults who are looking to improve their English pronunciation, public speaking, and overall vocal clarity and confidence in professional communication settings.

Samantha is a New York State licensed speech-language pathologist, holding her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. In addition, she is a certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Samantha completed her Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Iona College and received a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from St. John’s University.

She targets speech and language goals using individualized lesson plans and engaging activities to improve communication skills required for academic and professional success, as well as, functional living. Stefanie, M.S. CCC-SLP is a New York State licensed speech language pathologist with over 15 years of experience working with the pediatric population. She maintains certification in Speech-Language Pathology from the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH). She received her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Emerson College in Boston, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences from Indiana University. Stefanie is level 1 PROMPT trained and has been trained in Sounds in Motion approach to literacy.

Over the years Stefanie has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, public and private schools, head start programs, specialized clinics and sensory gyms. Sydney’s professional experience includes multiple years working in a public school setting with a large caseload and various ability levels/diagnoses, as well as several years working in a private school for students with autism that specializes in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). She currently works with school-age students on the autism spectrum, where she works both 1:1 and in groups to facilitate receptive and expressive language development, as well as improvement in articulation and social/pragmatic language. She has past and current experience in a number of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and applications, for both nonverbal and verbal children. Chelsea earned her Bachelor s and Master s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She is trained in PROMPT therapy, Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, Applied Behavior Analysis, Ayres Sensory Integration and the Social Thinking Curriculum.

Chelsea is a passionate and dedicated therapist who has sought out a wide variety of experiences with children and adults of all ages and abilities. Danielle is a certified Speech and Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Certificate of Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). She obtained her Master of Science in Speech and Language Pathology at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. Here she learned the importance of evidence-based practice and providing therapy from a child centered approach. She has worked in a variety of school and clinical settings including New York Center for Child Development and NYU Langone Medical Center. Danielle has held the position of Adjunct Professor of Communication Sciences at Long Island University. In the summer of 2017, Danielle developed a speech therapy program in Uganda for children with special needs. In addition, Danielle has completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program from Kula Yoga Project, as well as a 95-hour training in Mindfulness and Yoga for children from Little Flower Yoga.

Stefanie

Stefanie is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Stefanie completed her Master of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University. She also holds a Master of Science in Education from Queens College and worked as a high school English teacher for four years in her early career. Stefanie received a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and History from the University of Michigan.

Stefanie excels in tailoring an individual’s therapy to suit their skills, needs, interests, and personalities while improving self-esteem and quality of life. She has seven years of experience providing intervention for adolescents and adults with executive functioning disorder, receptive and expressive language impairments, voice disorders, and aphasia, all of which can result in difficulties with reading comprehension, writing composition, social communication, and/or reduced functioning for activities of daily living. Stefanie loves to work on short- and long-term solutions and identify strategies, materials, and resources that work for her clients as unique learners.

Stefanie completed her clinical practicum work with adults at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell’s outpatient rehabilitation unit, and Long Island College Hospital’s outpatient otolaryngology department. For the past six years, the majority of her work has been to provide therapy to students in a private high school as well as college. Stefanie was also approached by NYU’s online graduate program and took pride in teaching as an adjunct professor of Clinical Practicum I: Pre-Clinic for three semesters. She enjoys having a flexible schedule that takes her to multiple locations in a day while allowing her to return home to Park Slope afterward to spend time with her beloved dog. Stefanie firmly believes in one’s ability to learn and evolve and holds herself and clients up to the highest standards for maximum achievement and goals attained. Aileen has a bachelor’s degree in Special and Elementary Education from Providence College, a master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Southern Connecticut State University, and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration from St. Rose College. Aileen’s career has expanded to over 20 years with various therapeutic settings including Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY, the New York City Department of Education, pre-school home-based services, Early Intervention home-based services, and private practice. She currently works as a Supervisor of Speech Improvement for the New York City Department of Education. In her current position, Aileen oversees the implementation of speech and language services for students across parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. She also supports her staff through clinical observations, mentoring, provision of professional learning opportunities, and supporting the implementation of literacy programs. Literacy programs are designed to target grades K – 2 by identifying struggling readers and providing them with evidence-based interventions that develop early literacy skills such as phonemic and phonological awareness. Interventions include Sounds in Motion, Sound Sensible, and SPIRE. The goal of the program is to identify struggling readers early and bring them to grade level as quickly as possible. Aileen has presented on a variety of topics including Vocabulary Intervention for Adolescents, Service Delivery Options, the Role of the SLP in Schools, and Evidence-Based Best Practices for Speech and Language Therapy. 

Aileen works with children from birth through adolescents with specialties in the areas of feeding and swallowing disorders (picky eaters, behavior disorders), early and adolescent literacy, executive functioning, ADHD, articulation, phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language delays and disorders, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She is trained in various treatment methodologies including SOS Approach to Feeding (SOS), a treatment approach that considers all of the underlying factors of feeding such as sensory processing, behavior, cognition, nutrition, and environment. Sounds Sensible, SPIRE and Sounds in Motion are evidence-based programs that target phonological and phonemic awareness in grades pre-K – 2nd grade. Basic Writing Skills target the organization and expansion of writing skills for students in elementary through high school. 

Aileen’s approach to therapy is child-centered. Young children learn and grow best through guided exploration. When working with middle and high school students Aileen encourages these clients to take ownership of their therapy by communicating their challenges and helping them to set individual goals that they work to achieve together. Therapy includes academics and also individual interests to keep therapy motivating. Her goal is to have the child reach his or her highest potential with their speech, language, feeding, and literacy development. She partners with families so they are integrated into the therapy process. 

In our new reality of COVID, remote learning and social distancing Aileen is prepared to provide teletherapy via online platforms including ZOOM, MS Teams, Google Meet, and FaceTime using a variety of practices and techniques for remote instruction. Karen is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She holds state licenses for Speech-Language Pathology in California, Maine, Pennsylvania, Idaho, Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, and Washington. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Communication Disorders from California State University at Long Beach. Since that time, she has been a 3-time recipient of the ASHA Award for Continuing Education. She is an experienced telepractioner, having worked exclusively in telepractice since 2011. She is passionate about telepractice as a therapy model that is engaging and immensely effective. She has provided speech and language services to children from birth through preschool utilizing telepractice (last 9 years) and in-person (over 20 years).

She values building impactful relationships with families to achieve their goals. Additionally, her experience includes working with school-aged children with a broad range of speech-language difficulties, including autism spectrum disorders, social/pragmatic delays/disorders, articulation/phonological delays, and receptive/expressive language delays/disorders.

She is resolute that learning should be rewarding and engaging and works to make each session effective and gratifying for the child. Alex received her Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from St. John’s University. She is a NY state certified SLP and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She currently works with the early intervention (ages 0-3) and preschool populations on speech, language, and feeding skills. Alex also works on fluency, articulation, apraxia of speech, and with people with aphasia and individuals with varying receptive and expressive delays. Prior to this, Alex provided speech language therapy to children on the autism spectrum and accent modification in Barcelona, Spain. She started her career working as a school based SLP creating and teaching social skill classes for adolescents.

Alex provides therapy in both English and Spanish. She is both PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) trained and trained in DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) for treating children with apraxia and articulation disorders. When treating individuals with sensory processing disorders and oral motor skills, Alex follows the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) approach to feeding therapy.

Aside from speech therapy, Alex has experience working with typically developing children, having taught English to toddlers in Spain, and used dance in toddler development for over 10 years. These experiences have helped craft Alex’s approach as a therapist as she is able to benchmark against the speech and language milestones of typically developing children. It is important for speech pathologists to understand the progression of typically developing children so that they can assess and set appropriate goals for therapy. Alex’s therapy sessions with young children incorporate creative movement and are high energy. Alex believes that speech therapy sessions should be individualized to meet the needs of each client.

Monica is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, TSHH, and Senior Literacy Consultant with over 22 years of professional experience. She has worked in a number of diverse settings and with a variety of populations including infants/toddlers, preschoolers, school-age students (K-8), and adults with a multitude of speech-language and literacy concerns. Monica received her B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Towson University and her M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of the District of Columbia. Monica began her career working in the Washington DC Public Schools, as an elementary, K-3 Classroom Special Education Teacher. She moved to Brooklyn in 1998 serving as a Speech-Language Pathologist at a non-public school; where she worked with students with a variety of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD (Executive Functioning Disorder), neurological impairments, and moderate-severe learning disabilities. Monica has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University’s Hy Weinberg Center for Communication Disorders, teaching and supervising graduate and undergraduate Speech-Language Pathology students. She has a wealth of professional experience evaluating and treating students with Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder, receptive/expressive language delays, articulation, dysfluency, vocabulary, and comprehension concerns. She is trained in ABA, Verbal Behavior (an ABA communication approach), and PROMPT (Level 1).

In addition to her vast clinical experience, Monica recently enhanced her skillset and attained advanced training, coursework and currently participates in literacy curriculum development for a non-profit organization in NYC. English being a speech to print language system, Monica has dedicated herself to “bridging the gap” between oral language and reading. For the past 6 years, Monica has worked as a senior literacy coach, training NYC DOE Literacy Coaches, licensed Teachers, and Paraprofessionals to work with students with reading deficits and dyslexia. Kathleen is a New York State certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She pursued a career in musical theater and voiceovers prior to returning to graduate school at Hunter College and obtaining a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology.

She has 14 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist in a wide range of settings that have allowed her to become a versatile clinician. Kaaren is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Therapist. She graduated from Brooklyn College with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology. Kaaren has provided speech and language support services for elementary and middle-school aged students within the NYC Department of Education (DOE). She has treated students with receptive and expressive language differences, delays, and other language-learning disorders, including those with various developmental disorders such as Autism, ADHD, and executive function difficulties, she has worked to help these students to access their curriculum and increase their decoding, reading comprehension, writing, and executive function skills. Anna has worked as a speech-language pathologist for 10 years. She is licensed in both New York and New Jersey. And, I she holds her TSSLD (teaching) certification in NY and teaching certificate in NJ. She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Hearing Association.

Anna is a native of Brooklyn, NY. She obtained her Bachelors and Masters degrees from CUNY Brooklyn College in Speech-Language Pathology.

Anna has worked with a diverse population which has taught her to be culturally sensitive and carefully consider cultural variations as part of the therapy process. These are important considerations when planning treatment for the client and family.
